CHROMagar Salmonella a chromogenic media, for isolation of specimins, allowing direct differenciation of Salmonella including S.typhi by colony colour.
Using CHROMagar Salmonella, a specific chromogenic medium for Salmonella and with procedures identical to those used in classical agar culture methods : prepare CHROMagar Salmonella petri plates according to instructions, innoculate and incubate for 24 hours.
Rapid and reliable detection of Salmonella including S.typhi. Easily distinguishable colonies due to the purple colouring they have aquired. Other bacterial species are inhibited or give blue and colourless colonies. The purple colonies of Salmonella thus detected can be studied directly by serotyping and biochemical strip tests for confirmation and epidemiological follow up.
Results are readble under normal lighting.
- Salmonella - purple
- other bacterial colonies - inhibited, blue or colourless
