NanoCeram® is a novel material developed by Argonide Corp. Orlando U.S.A. for the seperation of proteins and biological solutions. The technology is based upon 2 nanometer diameter, high aspect ratio, alumina strands which carry a high electropositive charge. The unique filtration material retains 99.9999% protozoa such as Cryptosporidium (>5 logs), bacteria and viruses at flow rates more than 200 times greater than equivalent virus-rated filter membranes. The filters are capable of viral retention with 6 or 7 log population and at flow velocities of 30 to 60cm/minute. DNA and RNA are also absorbed efficiently, to 200 microgram/cm2 and 600 microgram/cm2 respectively. NanoCeram® has been shown to be highly effective in a wide variety of applications:
